Triandis, Harry C.; And Others – Journal of Cross-Cultural Psychology, 1993
An analysis of the responses of 1,614 adult subjects from 10 cultures show that the Leung-Bond procedure provides ways of extracting both strong and weak etics relevant to individualism and weak etics relevant to collectivism. Pepitone, Albert; Triandis, Harry C. – Journal of Cross-Cultural Psychology, 1987
There is no a priori basis for assuming that theories of social psychology are universal. For theories to be universal, the meaning of the stimulus would have to be consistent across cultures, but this cannot be taken for granted. Cross-cultural variations in social behavior may be "surface" expressions of deep structure norms that are universal.…

Harris, Richard Jackson; And Others – Journal of Cross-Cultural Psychology, 1992
Examines some effects of culturally based knowledge on memory for stories about people performing common activities. Results with monocultural U.S. college students (n=176) and Mexican citizens (n=57) suggest that any theory of the effects of script-based knowledge on memory must consider the cultural origin of the knowledge. The development of sex stereotype knowledge (SSK) was studied using 120, 120, and 204 Portuguese children aged 5, 8, and 11 years, respectively. SSK increased with age and socioeconomic status. Results from the IRT technique with French and Chinese versions of a scale measuring individualism-collectivism for samples of 250 U.S., 357 French, and 290 Chinese undergraduates show how several biased items are detected.
