Conducted in a residential treatment program for adolescent boys, this study examined the relationship between reward/fine patterns of staff members, the feelings of the boys toward staff, and boys' behavior patterns. This study demonstrated that five withdrawn adults living in a residential center for psychotic and mentally handicapped persons could serve as peer therapists to increase the social interaction of other withdrawn residents.
