Peer reviewedHartlage, Lawrence C.; Steele, Carol T. – Psychology in the Schools, 1977
WISC and WISC-R test results were correlated with achievement test scores and school grades of 36 children who had completed two years of school. Global intelligence estimates from both scales correlated at significant levels with all achievement test measures. (Author)

Peer reviewedKoslowsky, Meni; And Others – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1976
The concept of selection ratios was illustrated for large clinical settings. Four Draw-A-Person (DAP) variables were used to predict intelligence in a sample of 601 institutionalized addicts. Results indicate that a test with low predictability across the entire distribution can often be used quite effectively for identifying poor or excellent…

Lysaught, Jerome P.; Pierleoni, Robert G. – AV Commun Rev, 1970
"The research reported herein was supported by the Cooperative Research Program of the Office of Education, U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare. Cooperative Research Project No. OEC-1-7-068407-0286." (Authors)

Peer reviewedWard, L. Charles; Selby, Rosemary B. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1979
A regression equation relating verbal and full-scale IQs was derived from scores of patients. Scores were highly correlated, and verbal IQ significantly exceeded full-scale IQ. Regression estimates closely estimated mean full-scale IQ, suggesting that the verbal scale serves effectively as a WAIS abbreviation. (Author)

Atkinson, Leslie – American Journal on Mental Retardation, 1990
The test-retest reliability and predictive validity of developmental quotients (DQs) derived from the Cattell Infant Intelligence Scale was assessed with 83 children with mental retardation, age 30 months or more. Scores were impressively stable on retest. DQs derived from the Bayley Scales of Infant Development were superior to Cattell DQs in…

Peer reviewedDekker, R.; And Others – Journal of Visual Impairment and Blindness, 1991
Statistical analyses of scores on subtests of the Intelligence Test for Visually Impaired Children were done for two groups of children, either with or without usable vision. Results suggest that the battery has differential factorial and predictive validity. (Author/DB)
Descriptors: Blindness, Elementary Secondary Education, Intelligence Tests, Partial Vision
Peer reviewedTruscott, Stephen D.; Frank, Alicia J. – Journal of School Psychology, 2001
Examines two samples of students classified as learning disabled (LD) for evidence of the phenomenon known as the Flynn effect (FE). Results indicate that the FE does affect Wechsler IQ and component scores of students classified as LD. Suggests that LD classification may be substantially impacted by the FE over the life of an IQ test version.…

Apple, Dennis; And Others – 1983
This study attempts to respond to the suggestions of Stewart and Jones and the criticisms of Sattler and Buckhalt by assessing the precision of the Slosson Intelligence Test (SIT) in predicting Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Revised (WISC-R) scores with a population of restricted range (gifted children), and examining the consistency of…

Rankin, Richard J.; Henderson, Ronald W. – 1969
The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the reliability of the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence and to measure whether this reliability is affected when subjects are from a disadvantaged group. The subjects were 25 male and 24 female 5 1/2-year-old poor Mexican-Americans. Generally, the Wechsler Preschool Scale showed high…

Peer reviewedHale, Robert L.; And Others – Psychology in the Schools, 1978
This study investigated the efficacy of predicting academic achievement as measured by the Wide Range Achievement Test, using the Slosson Intelligence Test For Children and Adults as the predictor. Results indicate that the Slosson IQ significantly predicts Wide Range standard scores. (Author)
Descriptors: Elementary Secondary Education, Intelligence Tests, Predictive Measurement, Prognostic Tests
Peer reviewedZachary, Robert A.; And Others – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1985
Estimated age-adjusted Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-Revised intelligence quotient (IQ) scores using linear regression techniques and continuous norming of two samples of psychiatric inpatients (total N=150) in Veteran's Administration hospital. Results support use of estimation procedure in clinical and research settings desiring brief but…

Peer reviewedKaufman, Alan S.; Kaufman, Nadeen L. – Child Development, 1972
Results offer empirical support to Ilg and Ames's claim that the Gesell battery is an excellent predictor of school readiness. The close similarity of the Piaget and Gesell tests accords well with previous findings that the two tests have much in common. (Authors/MB)
