Forging Future Advocates: The Pre-Law Summer Institute
Zola Ortiz; Amber Reano
Tribal College Journal of American Indian Higher Education, v37 n2 2025
Since 1967, the American Indian Law Center (AILC) has been conducting the Pre-Law Summer Institute (PLSI), a free eight-week-long program that prepares American Indian and Alaskan Native students from across the United States for the rigors of law school. Taught by nationally prominent law school faculty and leaders, PLSI focuses on the unique methods of legal research, analysis, and writing. This article describes how PLSI hones advocacy skills so graduates can serve in positions that enable them to create positive change now and in the future.
