The Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center has conducted workshops in instructional technology as they relate to the teaching of foreign language through individualization. The content and scope of the workshops on instructional technology and criterion-referenced instruction are discussed. (SW)

The need for extra-curricular activity to supplement Italian classroom learning is discussed. Five programs are described which focus on individual needs and active student participation. John Dewey High School has initiated a program which hopes to compensate for a lack of interesting and relevant materials in Italian instruction.
