Two multitrait-multimethod studies were conducted to investigate the effects of two scoring formulas. The study demonstrates that tests of divergent thinking lack discriminant validity when scored in the usual manner. The sensitivity of creative thinking measured by the Torrance Tests with an experimenter-induced response set was investigated. Subjects (n=198) were divided into four groups and each was given a unique set of instructions. A multivariate Dunnett test showed that the Torrance Tests were highly sensitive to experimenter manipulation. (Author/DWH)

Examined whether lengthy responses to the blank card reflect a contaminating factor such as glibness in creativity research. Two groups of college students completed the Remote Associates Test, Thematic Apperception Test, or Hand Test. Results suggested that blank cards among ambiguous stimuli evoke not glibness but economy of expression. (JAC)
