Sen, Sedat – Creativity Research Journal, 2022
The purpose of this study was to estimate the overall reliability values for the scores produced by Runco Ideational Behavior Scale (RIBS) and explore the variability of RIBS score reliability across studies. To achieve this, a reliability generalization meta-analysis was carried out using the 86 Cronbach's alpha estimates obtained from 77 studies…

Jin, Yan – Journal of Pan-Pacific Association of Applied Linguistics, 2011
The College English Test (CET) is an English language test designed for educational purposes, administered on a very large scale, and used for making high-stakes decisions. This paper discusses the key issues facing the CET during the course of its development in the past two decades. It argues that the most fundamental and critical concerns of…

Bors, Douglas A.; Stokes, Tonya L. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1998
First-year college students (n=506) completed Raven's Advanced Progressive Matrices (J. Raven, J. Court, and J. Raven, 1988). Data were used to contribute to the normative database for American college students. A short form developed from 12 items of the original 36 was found to possess acceptable psychometric properties. (SLD)

Vispoel, Walter P.; Boo, Jaeyool; Bleiler, Timothy – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 2001
Evaluated the characteristics of computerized and paper-and-pencil versions of the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (SES) using scores for 224 college students. Results show that mode of administration has little effect on the psychometric properties of the SES although the computerized version took longer and was preferred by examinees. (SLD)

Loo, S. Robert; Thorpe, Karran – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1999
Used samples of 142 management and 123 nursing undergraduates to evaluate the psychometric properties and factor structure of the newly developed Form S (short form) of the Watson-Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal (G. Watson and E. Glaser, 1964, 1994). Results provide only limited support for Form S, and further refinement is suggested. (SLD)

Bardo, John W.; Yeager, Samuel J. – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1982
Responses to various fixed test-response formats were examined for "reliability" due to systematic error; Cronbach's alphas up to .67 were obtained. Of formats tested, four-point Likert Scales were least affected while forms of lines and faces were most problematic. Possible modification in alpha to account for systematic bias is…

Schriesheim, Chester A.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1989
Three studies explored the effects of grouping versus randomized items in questionnaires on internal consistency and test-retest reliability with samples of 80, 80, and 100, respectively, university students and undergraduates. The 2 correlational and 1 experimental studies were reasonably consistent in demonstrating that neither format was…

Arthur, Winfred, Jr.; Day, David V. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1994
The development of a short form of the Raven Advanced Progressive Matrices Test is reported. Results from 3 studies with 663 college students indicate that the short form demonstrates psychometric properties similar to the long form yet requires a substantially shorter administration time. (SLD)

Mertler, Craig A.; Earley, Mark A. – 2003
A study was conducted to compare the psychometric qualities of two forms of an identical survey: one administered in a paper-and-pencil format and the other administered in Web format. The survey addressed the topic of college course anxiety and used to survey a sample of 236 undergraduate students. The psychometric qualities investigated included…

Zeidner, Moshe; Bensoussan, Marsha – Language Testing, 1988
Compares student attitudes toward oral or written tests and the relationship of attitude to performance of 170 students enrolled in the advanced reading course of English as a foreign language at Haifa University (Israel). Students preferred written over oral tests. No meaningful relationship was observed between students' attitudes and test…

Woodburn, Jim; Sutcliffe, Nick – Assessment & Evaluation in Higher Education, 1996
The Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE), initially developed for undergraduate medical education, has been adapted for assessment of clinical skills in podiatry students. A 12-month pilot study found the test had relatively low levels of reliability, high construct and criterion validity, and good stability of performance over time.…

Stabler, Edward P., Jr. – 1986
A type of item used frequently in standardized testing involves the recognition of a sentence. Examples of such items are the sentence completion items, used in both the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), and the sentence correction items used in the Test of Standard Written English. Tests that contain such…

Melancon, Janet G.; Thompson, Bruce – 1988
The psychometric integrity of selected items from the Mathematics Association of America (MAA) placement tests for college students was investigated. Two alternative and parallel versions of the test were developed (Form A and Form B) for this study. Data for 539 students seeking admission into an undergraduate mathematics curriculum at a private…

Parshall, Cynthia G.; Stewart, Rob; Ritter, Judy – 1996
While computer-based tests might be as simple as computerized versions of paper-and-pencil examinations, more innovative applications also exist. Examples of innovations in computer-based assessment include the use of graphics or sound, some measure of interactivity, a change in the means in which examinees responded to items, and the application…
