As campus student volunteer activities have grown, colleges have acknowledged the need for better organization by hiring recent graduates to coordinate them. The young deans have proven to be both enthusiastic and effective at this task. (MSE)

A survey identifying the nature and levels of volunteer work contributed by social work educators is reported. Nearly all educators engage in formal volunteer work and perform a variety of roles in human service agencies. Tenure status and primary teaching area are positively associated with amount and type of volunteer work. (Author/MSE)

As student populations change, so do the students who volunteer for cocurricular activities. The challenges for campus activities organizers include recruiting older students and providing adequate rewards for volunteering. Students can be attracted by emphasizing the job-related aspects of volunteer jobs or offering course credit. (MSE)
