The use of an Apple II microcomputer as support for nutrition instruction with home economics, nursing, and catering students is detailed. The work done so far is viewed as successful and encouraging. The direction of new ideas to exploit the color and graphics capabilities of the Apple is noted. (MP)

This material looks at the historical developments of computer-aided timetabling, with particular emphasis on the limitations of present systems. Five common criticisms of mainframe computer timetabling packages are pointed out, and the development of a microcomputer-based package in its initial creation is described. (MP)

The four areas of the Computer Based Learning Unit are considered after a brief history is given. The areas are: (1) the computer based teaching system; (2) research; (3) authoring systems and production of teaching material; and (4) initial and in-service training of teachers.
