Examined the role of maternal coping and control beliefs in the development of coping and locus of control in their adolescent children. Found that maternal coping effects form a base for the form and character of adolescent coping but that maternal coping rather than maternal locus of control influenced development of adolescent control. Effects of social support on health self-assessments were studied in a national sample of 1,131 adolescents in Iceland. Parental support has the largest total effect on health self-assessment, followed by friend support, and other adult support. Implications of these results are discussed. (SLD)

Analyzed the data from the Rutter Children's Behaviour Questionnaire (M. Rutter, 1967) from 450 Swedish children in grades 2, 5, and 8 using latent variable analysis. Findings show a structure described by a nested hierarchical model with seven first order factors. Some items have rather weak relations to their latent factors. (SLD)
