Specialized Group Homes for Persons with Severe or Profound Mental Retardation and Serious Problem Behaviour in England.

Thirteen people with severe/profound mental retardation and serious problem behavior were transferred from institutional care to group homes in England. Participation in meaningful activities increased significantly and included a wider range of activities. Most participants did not increase their major problem behavior. (Author/JDD)

The effects of basketball training on the maladaptive behaviors of 19 children (ages 10-14) with mental retardation were investigated. Results indicated the children showed a reduction in their level of maladaptive behavior at home and in school. This reduction was maintained 45 days later in a follow-up assessment. (Author/CR)
