Gerbing, David W.; Hunter, John E. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1982
In a LISREL-IV analysis, a method of specifying a priori the variances of the latent variables for interpretability is demonstrated. The potential confusion of the metric of the latent variables is discussed, since many of the parameter estimates are a function of the metric. (Author/CM)

Anderson, James C.; Gerbing, David W. – Psychometrika, 1984
This study of maximum likelihood confirmatory factor analysis found effects of practical significance due to sample size, the number of indicators per factor, and the number of factors for Joreskog and Sorbom's (1981) goodness-of-fit index (GFI), GFI adjusted for degrees of freedom, and the root mean square residual. Hunter, John E.; Gerbing, David W. – 1979
Confirmatory factor analysis is presented as providing appropriate techniques for the analysis and evaluation of questionnaires and tests if the content of the measure can be identified as consisting of groups of items, with each group measuring only a single trait. This approach is contrasted with latent trait theory which assumes (and does not…
