Dimitrov, Dimiter M.; Atanasov, Dimitar V. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 2021
This study presents a latent (item response theory--like) framework of a recently developed classical approach to test scoring, equating, and item analysis, referred to as "D"-scoring method. Specifically, (a) person and item parameters are estimated under an item response function model on the "D"-scale (from 0 to 1) using…

Monroe, Scott – Journal of Educational and Behavioral Statistics, 2019
In item response theory (IRT) modeling, the Fisher information matrix is used for numerous inferential procedures such as estimating parameter standard errors, constructing test statistics, and facilitating test scoring. In principal, these procedures may be carried out using either the expected information or the observed information. However, in…

Cetin-Berber, Dee Duygu; Sari, Halil Ibrahim; Huggins-Manley, Anne Corinne – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 2019
Routing examinees to modules based on their ability level is a very important aspect in computerized adaptive multistage testing. However, the presence of missing responses may complicate estimation of examinee ability, which may result in misrouting of individuals. Therefore, missing responses should be handled carefully. This study investigated…

Yuan, Ke-Hai; Zhang, Zhiyong – Psychometrika, 2012
The paper develops a two-stage robust procedure for structural equation modeling (SEM) and an R package "rsem" to facilitate the use of the procedure by applied researchers. In the first stage, M-estimates of the saturated mean vector and covariance matrix of all variables are obtained. Those corresponding to the substantive variables…

Drasgow, Fritz; Levine, Michael V. – 1985
Optimal appropriateness indices, recently introduced by Levine and Drasgow (1984), provide the highest rates of detection of aberrant response patterns that can be obtained from item responses. These optimal appropriateness indices are used to study three important problems in appropriateness measurement. First, the maximum detection rates of two…

Peer reviewedYen, Wendy M. – Journal of Educational Measurement, 1984
A procedure for obtaining maximum likelihood trait estimates from number-correct (NC) scores for the three-parameter logistic model is presented. It produces an NC score to trait estimate conversion table. Analyses in the estimated true score metric confirm the conclusions made in the trait metric. (Author/DWH)
