Peer reviewedRushinek, Avi; And Others – Journal of Educational Technology Systems, 1985
Suggests a method of integrating user performance and attitudes toward the computer system into quality control procedures (QCP) and describes an application of user attitudes to the QPC in a class of novice computer users receiving instruction in BASIC programing language via formal classroom lecture with computer assisted instruction tutorials.…

Peer reviewedSeleen, Diane R. – Gerontologist, 1982
A significant amount of variation in life satisfaction beyond the demographic variables was found when 205 elderly persons were tested. Two life satisfaction measures were employed and compared. Results supported the use of a single-item inventory and suggested that satisfaction with time use contributes to life satisfaction. (Author/RC)

Peer reviewedReed, T. Edward; Jensen, Arthur R. – Intelligence, 1993
Choice reaction time and simple reaction time were measured for 147 young adults for whom significant positive correlation between nerve conduction velocity in a brain nerve pathway and nonverbal intelligence was previously found. Results suggest that two largely independent neurophysiological processes affect intelligence. Differences in choice…

Elvers, Greg C.; Polzella, Donald J.; Graetz, Ken – Teaching of Psychology, 2003
This study investigated the relation between dilatory behaviors and performance in students whom we randomly assigned to either an online or a traditional, lecture introductory psychology class. Both sections had full access to a class Web site. There were no reliable differences between the 2 sections of the class on the measures of…

Updegraff, Kimberly A.; McHale, Susan M.; Whiteman, Shawn D.; Thayer, Shawna M.; Crouter, Ann C. – Child Development, 2006
Drawing on cultural-ecological and person-environment fit perspectives, this study examined links among Mexican-American adolescents' time with peers and parents, parents' cultural orientations, and adolescents' psychosocial adjustment and cultural orientations. Participants were 492 Mexican-American adolescents (Ms=15.7 and 12.8 years for older…

Berrigan, David; Dodd, Kevin; Troiano, Richard P.; Reeve, Bryce B.; Ballard-Barbash, Rachel – Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport, 2006
Understanding the prevalence and demographic correlates of physical activity is important for public health and epidemiological research. This analysis examines the association between acculturation and physical activity in a large (similar to 5,000) sample of Hispanic adults from the 2000 National Health Interview Survey. Scores for eight…

Papagno, Costanza; Allegra, Adele; Cardaci, Maurizio – Brain and Cognition, 2004
The aim of this study was to evaluate the role of short-term memory and attention in time estimation. For this purpose we studied prospective time verbal estimation in 21 patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD), and compared their performance with that of 21 matched normal controls in two different conditions: during a digit span task and during an…

Shockley, Kevin; Turvey, Michael T. – Journal of Experimental Psychology: Learning, Memory, and Cognition, 2005
In 2 experiments, bimanual 1:1 rhythmic coordination was performed concurrently with encoding or retrieval of word lists. Effects of divided attention (DA) on coordination were indexed by changes in mean relative phase and recurrence measures of shared activity between the 2 limbs. Effects of DA on memory were indexed by deficits in recall…

Rakitin, Brian C. – Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Perception and Performance, 2005
Five experiments examined the relations between timing and attention using a choice time production task in which the latency of a spatial choice response is matched to a target interval (3 or 5 s). Experiments 1 and 2 indicated that spatial stimulus-response incompatibility increased nonscalar timing variability without affecting timing accuracy…

Schmidt, Steven W. – Human Resource Development Quarterly, 2007
Opportunities for training and development are paramount in decisions regarding employee career choices. Despite the importance, many research studies on job satisfaction do not address satisfaction with workplace training as an element of overall job satisfaction, and many job satisfaction survey instruments do not include a "satisfaction…

Marzano, Robert J.; Haystead, Mark W. – Marzano Research Laboratory, 2010
During the 2009-2010 school year, Marzano Research Laboratory (MRL) was commissioned by Promethean Ltd. to conduct a second year evaluation study of the effects of Promethean ActivClassroom on student academic achievement. Jensen, Arthur R. – 1979
Measurements of various parameters derived from different reaction time (RT) paradigms are found to be correlated with psychometric measurements of general mental ability. Such RT-derived measurements, when combined in a multiple regression equation, predict some 50 percent or more of the variance in intelligence. This relationship of intelligence…

Goodhart, Darlene; Zautra, Alex – 1979
Many previous studies have found that daily life events influence community residents' perceived quality of life, which refers to the relative goodness of life as evaluated subjectively. A subsample population of 539 older residents, aged 55 and over, were interviewed in their homes. A 60-item scale was devised to measure the effects of…

Peer reviewedArlin, Marshall; Whitley, Theodore W. – Journal of Educational Psychology, 1978
Children were assessed at the beginning and end of a school year on their perception of opportunities for self-management of their instruction and perception of academic locus of control. Perceptions of opportunity for self-management of instruction were causally prior to perceptions of academic locus of control. (Author/RD)
