Is the Computer Plugged in?: A Comment from the Other Side of the Phone
Fitton, Kevin
Phi Delta Kappan, v92 n5 p62-64 Feb 2011
The title of this article is a common phrase in tech support, according to the author, who, for several years, was the person on the other side of the phone asking that question. Technology support blends technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, a load of Zen-like patience, and the ability to juggle multiple demands at the same time, a list of qualities that should sound familiar to any teacher. But, while many teachers and administrators have experience using technology in their daily work, a lot of professionals are still leery of technology and feel disempowered when asked to adopt a technology with which they are unfamiliar. In this article, the author offers advice on integrating technology into schools with a minimum of problems.
