Presents a phenomenological study of student experience in a computer conference learning environment. Issues for students in conferences revolved around spatial disorientation. In spring 1998, a total of 452 students in 49 selected classes and 44% of faculty at Johnson County Community College returned surveys assessing respondents' computer usage and future computer needs.
