Brown, Scott W.; Chen, Ching Hui – International Journal of Instructional Media, 1994
Examines the effectiveness of various types of feedback in interactive video instruction. Participants were 43 undergraduate students. Results showed no significant difference among the three groups of (1) video only, (2) feedback, and (3) elaborate feedback. Summary, multiple-choice test, and sample question/response are appended. Jones, Arthur P. – International Journal of Instructional Media, 1993
Notetaking and note reviewing appear to increase learning from conventional instruction. An experiment on notetaking with interactive videodisk (IVD) did not mirror these findings. With the IVD lesson, no statistically significant effects were associated with notetaking or reviewing, either conventional or matrix notes. (AEF)

Thota, Vykuntapathi – International Journal of Instructional Media, 1993
An interactive videodisc (IVD) system enables a student to practice skills that would otherwise be too costly or dangerous to attempt. IVD designers, utilizing the principle of hypermedia, stimulate students with realistic imagery and sound and branching options. The computer is able to evaluate the student's entry skills, identify deficiencies,…

Ogunyemi, Olatunde – International Journal of Instructional Media, 1997
Reviews education research on general design principles and concepts, including perception/communications theories and learning principles. Media research is also reviewed. Based on this past research, a model is proposed for the design of video displays in an interactive videodisc (IVD) instructional program. (AEF)

Shyu, Hsin-Yih; Brown, Scott W. – International Journal of Instructional Media, 1992
Discussion of learner-controlled instruction focuses on a study of undergraduates that compared learner control with program control in interactive videodisc instruction for making an origami crane. Student performance, self-efficacy concerning the instructional task, time on task, and student attitudes toward the instruction are examined. (32…
