Children (N=30) ages 6-10 were selected who had been referred for psychological evaluation from the public schools. WISC-R was significantly lower than WISC FS IQ's and similar to S-B L&M IQ's. The use of the WISC-R over the WISC will result in greater numbers of children being classified as retarded. (Author)

Concurrent validity of the Strong-Campbell Interest Inventory (SCII) and predictive validity of the Strong Vocational Interest Blank (SVIB) were studied in an 18-year follow-up of a university counseling center group of male college graduate subjects. Significant differences between 200 counseling seekers and 200 nonseekers were obtained on nine of the 11 Mooney Problem Check List areas. An item analysis over four additional samples yielded a scale of 42 items of potential predictive usefulness. Students who eventually become clients differ substantially from their nonclient peers. Predictive validity of a school readiness test (Preschool Screening System (PSS)) was investigated through a teacher rating scale (Rhode Island Pupil Identification Scale) to six groups of kindergarten children of both sexes (N=245). The most powerful predictor in every group was the "Information Processing" score of the PSS. (Author)
