Osler, James Edward – Journal of Educational Technology, 2013
This monograph provides an epistemological rational for the design of an advanced novel analysis metric. The metric is designed to analyze the outcomes of the Tri-Squared Test. This methodology is referred to as: "Tri-Squared Mean Cross Comparative Analysis" (given the acronym TSMCCA). Tri-Squared Mean Cross Comparative Analysis involves…

Sokolowski, Andrzej – IAFOR Journal of Education, 2015
Using meta-analytic techniques this study examined the effects of applying mathematical modelling to support student math knowledge acquisition at the high school and college levels. The research encompassed experimental studies published in peer-reviewed journals between January 1, 2000, and February 27, 2013. Such formulated orientation called…

Peer reviewedCarson, Kenneth P.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1990
The utility of the fail-safe "N" statistic was evaluated by computing it for studies in three organizational research domains in which discrepant conclusions were reached by initial and subsequent meta-analyses. Calculation of the fail-safe "N" may have led to more cautious interpretations. Implications for meta-analyses are…

Strube, Michael J. – 1986
A general model is described which can be used to represent the four common types of meta-analysis: (1) estimation of effect size by combining study outcomes; (2) estimation of effect size by contrasting study outcomes; (3) estimation of statistical significance by combining study outcomes; and (4) estimation of statistical significance by…

Peer reviewedTaylor, Matthew J.; White, Karl R. – Journal of Experimental Education, 1992
Results obtained in a metanalysis using indirect alternative methods of computing standardized mean difference effect sizes (SMDESs) were compared with results obtained from direct calculations of SMDESs. In most cases, alternative methods yield very comparable results and are beneficial to use, especially when sample sizes are large. (SLD)

Witt, Elizabeth A. – 1993
Two previous meta-analyses of the test-coaching literature have yielded conclusions that differ with respect to aptitude test scores. This study attempts to resolve differences in the conclusions of these two analyses by J. A. Kulik, R. L. Bangert-Drowns, and C. L. C. Kulik (1984) and K. Pearlman (1984) by using the methods of F. L. Schmidt and J.…
