The Total Studio, an ideal pedagogical construct, representing the holistic approach to architectural education is described. The design studio is seen as offering the best opportunity for teaching architecture and it is the only environment in which all aspects of architectural ideas and skills can be learned. (MLW)

A growing awareness of environmental problems and energy scarcity has led architects and engineers to reevaluate their approaches to building design.
