Reports on a U.S.-funded language aid project in Egypt that trained Egyptian English-as-a-Second-Language instructors to integrate information technologies with language instruction. Argues that language and technology are both tools for individual and societal development. (Author/VWL)

In order to use television for teaching English as a second language most effectively, a multimedia system is necessary in which the TV is one attraction. Teachers and students then will have active roles to assist language acquisition. A Canadian example of such a system is discussed. (CHK)
