In this article, the authors discuss podcasting and provide ways on how to create podcasts. A podcast is an audio or video file that is posted on the web that can easily be cataloged and automatically downloaded to a computer or mobile device capable of playing back audio or video files. Podcasting is a powerful tool for educators to get students involved in activities that are meaningful, integrative, value-based, challenging, and active. It involves planning and organizing, research, writing, editing, and the use of technology where necessary and appropriate. Using "Our City Podcast," a podcast for kids and by kids, is a great way to start podcasting with students. Because the technical aspects are taken care of after the podcast is submitted, teachers and students are able to focus on the content.
