de la Torre, Jimmy – Psychometrika, 2011
The G-DINA ("generalized deterministic inputs, noisy and gate") model is a generalization of the DINA model with more relaxed assumptions. In its saturated form, the G-DINA model is equivalent to other general models for cognitive diagnosis based on alternative link functions. When appropriate constraints are applied, several commonly used…

Clark, Andrew K. – Psychometrika, 1976
Critical examination is made of the recent controversy over the value of Monte Carlo techniques in nonmetric multidimensional scaling procedures. The case is presented that the major relevance of Monte Carlo studies is not for the local minima problem but for the meaningfulness of the obtained solutions. (Author)

Hubert, Lawrence; Arabie, Phipps – Psychometrika, 1992
A method is proposed for comparison of distinct partitions of the same set of n objects through a simple cross-product index defined between corresponding entries from two proximity matrices providing particular a priori codings of the within-class and between-class relationships for the partitions. (SLD)

Sarndal, Carl Erik – Psychometrika, 1974
The general problem of measuring the association between an independent nominal-scaled variable X and a dependent variable Y whose scale of measurement may be interval, ordinal, or nominal is discussed. (Author/RC)

Irtel, Hans – Psychometrika, 1995
Comparisons of subjects are specifically objective if they do not depend on the items involved. Such comparisons are not restricted to the one-parameter logistic latent trait model but may also be defined within ordinal independence models and even within the two-parameter logistic model. (Author)

O'Brien, Ralph G. – Psychometrika, 1978
Several ways of using traditional analysis of variance to test the homogeneity of variance in factorial designs with equal or unequal cell sizes are compared using theoretical and Monte Carlo results. (Author/JKS)

D'Andrade, Roy G. – Psychometrika, 1978
A monotone invariant method of hierarchical clustering based on the Mann-Whitney U-statistic is presented. The effectiveness of the complete-link, single-link, and U-statistic methods are evaluated. The U-statistic method is found to be consistently more effective in recovering the original tree structures than the alternative methods. (Author/JKS)

Emery, Douglas R.; Barron, F. Hutton – Psychometrika, 1979
There are two complementary approaches to conjoint measurement: axiomatic and numerical. In this article, synthetic data are used to examine how well axiomatic and conjoint measurement methods, individually and comparatively, recover parameters from data with three dimensions. (JKS)

Gleason, Terry C.; Staelin, Richard – Psychometrika, 1975
Presents a new approach for estimating missing observations together with the results of a Monte Carlo study of the relative strengths and weaknesses of this technique and three other available methods. These techniques are then examined with respect to their ability to use incomplete data to estimate the correlation matrix obtained using a full…

Froemel, Ernest C. – Psychometrika, 1971
Saunder's routine, Buhler's empirical approximation, and Castellan's series expansion are compared. Saunder's routine was identified as an acceptably accurate method. (PR)

Andersen, Erling B. – Psychometrika, 1976
A Bradley-Terry type model for paired comparisons is considered which allows for individual parameters and corresponding parameters for the choice-alternatives. Model is applied to data from a Danish investigation of blue collar attitudes towards alternative social gains. Model is compared to one suggested by Schonemann and Wang. (RC)

Lee, S. Y.; Jennrich, R. I. – Psychometrika, 1979
A variety of algorithms for analyzing covariance structures are considered. Additionally, two methods of estimation, maximum likelihood, and weighted least squares are considered. Comparisons are made between these algorithms and factor analysis. (Author/JKS)
