Facilitator Actions in Teacher Teams
Professional Development in Education, v49 n2 p257-272 2023
Since facilitators are considered to be crucial actors in teacher teams, the aim of this study is therefore to explore, observe and characterise actions of facilitators by means of detailed video-observations of facilitators during teacher-team meetings. Results show that facilitators' actions vary from passive-absent and passive-waiting to active-leading and proactive actions. Facilitators navigate through teacher-team meetings using this large variation of actions. The characterisation of actions can function as an analytical frame for facilitators to analyse their actions and to look for possible alternatives if needed.
