Hwang, Heungsun; Dillon, William R. – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 2010
A 2-way clustering approach to multiple correspondence analysis is proposed to account for cluster-level heterogeneity of both respondents and variable categories in multivariate categorical data. Specifically, in the proposed method, multiple correspondence analysis is combined with k-means in a unified framework in which "k"-means is…

Peer reviewedMcDonald, Roderick P.; Mok, Magdalena M.-C. – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1995
It is shown that goodness-of-fit criteria developed for the evaluation of multivariate structural models can be applied to assist in evaluating the dimensionality of a test consisting of binary items, and correlative methods regularly used in factor analysis can be employed to diagnose causes of misfit. Issues the author has explored in his work on the philosophy of statistics are reviewed. Indeterminacy, the place of empiricism, questions of causation and causality, and explorations of language have preceded the study of objectivity. The relationship between objectivity and multivariate statistics is examined. (SLD)
