Gynan, Shaw N. – Modern Language Journal, 1984
Discusses an empirical investigation of the attitudes of native speakers to the interlanguage of nonnative speakers. Statistical analysis demonstrates that attitudes toward speech are measurably distinct from attitudes toward the person speaking and that interlanguage attitudes are basically evaluative in nature, not affective.
