Results: Believe in the Capacity of People to Invent Their Own Solutions
Hirsh, Stephanie
Journal of Staff Development, v30 n2 p61-62 Spr 2009
This article discusses the challenge of finding time for learning teams to meet. The author firmly believes that teachers have the capacity to develop solutions that best meet their needs and the needs of their students. She believes that if the teachers know that their learning and teamwork is in the best interests of their students, they will be able to find a scheduling solution that works for them. In this article, the author outlines some potentially viable options to creating elementary team learning time. These include: (1) schedule team learning during "specials"; (2) schedule substitutes to release teachers; and (3) adopt a modified weekly schedule.
