A significant portion of the increase in medical care costs results from the inefficient use of clinical laboratories by some physicians. A course for the undergraduate medical curriculum that will introduce students to the practice of intelligent and cost-effective utilization of the clinical laboratory is proposed. (MLW)

A coordination between first-year courses in human behavior or behavioral sciences and gross anatomy at the University of Vermont College of Medicine seems to enhance student learning and to improve student and faculty satisfaction in both courses. A method to assist in curriculum planning and its application at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine is presented.
