Affection, Social Contact, and Geographic Distance between Adult Children and Their Parents.
Lawton, Leora; And Others
Journal of Marriage and the Family, v56 n1 p57-68 Feb 1994
Investigated whether greater affection between adult children and their parents leads to more social contact, social contact leads to greater affection, or each mutually influences other. Found reciprocal influence between contact and affection in mother-child relationship, not in father-child relationship. Concluded that motivations for contact are different in adult-child relations with mothers compared to those with fathers. (Author/NB)
