The need to prepare social work administrators for the field is now recognized. Problems pertaining to the development of administration placements are identified and special arrangements are suggested that require a departure from traditional field instruction models and school-agency relationships. The individualized approach described here is seen as significant in its avoidance of the conflict between social work education for social change, for service to individuals, or for development of general skills.
