Examined the effectiveness of a short-term small group intervention in facilitating the social adjustment of 99 college freshmen. The social adjustment of vulnerable subjects was significantly enhanced by group participation, whereas nonvulnerable subjects were unaffected, demonstrating the value of a small group experience in facilitating the transition to college.
