2DVLE: A Simulation Game for an Active Learning Introduction to Vapour-Liquid Equilibrium

The authors develop an educational simulation game for basic vapour-liquid equilibrium (VLE) to use in chemical engineering education, basing the design on educational guidelines from the active learning literature. The game is tested in three cohorts totalling 84 students, showing significant increase in a knowledge test of VLE, and positive results of student interest when compared to a traditional classroom. A playable version of the game is made available at (psantos.itch.io/charming-vle-prototype), with the game files being placed in (github.com/pSantosb/2DVLE-CHARMING).
