Provides four examples of academic building designs considered effective in fulfilling the purpose for which they were created and satisfying student and administrative needs and preferences. Designs are a university's sciences building; a college library formed from an ex-elementary school auditorium/gymnasium; a university's five-story humanities building; and a retrofitted academic building that was originally built in 1887.
