This study examined from a social constructivist view the trauma experienced by Sudanese refugee children in a Midwestern U.S. city. The study explored how the children, their U.S. foster parents, and social workers from a child welfare agency described their understanding of the migration experience. Findings point to the importance of placing the children's trauma in the context of their own cultures. (Author)
