Omaha Survival: A Vanishing Indian Tribe that Would Not Vanish.
Ridington, Robin
American Indian Quarterly, v11 n1 p37-51 Win 1987
The Omaha have kept themselves together as a people throughout the century when they were expected to have vanished. They are strong today precisely because they have remained emotionally bound to an Indian identity, taking elements of white culture that are of benefit while retaining the traditional cultural spirit.
