A group of female medical students banded together to deal with what was perceived to be a hostile environment. Co-therapists found the group process was blocked initially in that individuals in the group were unable to share experiences, or to become intimate, and did not develop cohesiveness as a group. This study examined communicative expressions used by and interactions between 10 blind infants (less than a year old) and their mothers. The videotaped observations suggested that sighted mothers need special educational and psychological support. The recordings, when replayed to mothers, provided them with useful feedback. (DB)
