A strategy for the future, selected by the faculty and administration at California State University Dominguez Hills--designed to achieve a balance among projected enrollments, resources, educational programs, and faculty and staff appointments--is described. Legislation mandating the mainstreaming of special needs students has found many school systems unprepared for and ignorant of the disabilities and abilities of handicapped children. One way to bring about an awareness of the needs of special needs students is to organize a handicap awareness day. (Author)

Concepts behind a multicultural education program at Ball State University are described. The content, concepts, and practices pertinent to designing and integrating multicultural education courses into existing pre- and inservice teacher education programs are discussed. (JMF)

A five-step method of instructional program evaluation is described, which helps insure educators that their graduates will continue to gain employment and that courses will continue to teach skills sought by employers. The Learning Exchange System, or Learnxs, was created in Toronto in 1973 as a three-year demonstration project concerned with the use of informal community-based learning resources for individual and group learning. The system produced a detailed directory of organizations, places, and individuals which could offer learning experiences. (JN)

The efforts of Mills College to prepare women for mathematics-oriented professional careers are detailed.
