A case based workshop on science ethics for high school students participating in summer research apprenticeships is developed and tested. It is found that this case-based approach is useful in facilitating faculty-student discussions of research ethics with their proteges.

A college-level summer course that combines both ethics and the practice of conservation is described. Through intensive reading and discussion, students develop a personal conservation ethic. They also take field trips, listen to guest speakers, prepare school nature lessons, and plan a conservation area. (JA)
