Responds to a paper by Okechukwu Okoro on library recruitment policies in Nigeria. Background on the origin of the undergraduate degree in library science in Nigeria is provided; problems with degree programs that led to charges of discrimination are addressed; and new definitions of a professional librarian are explained.
