This report summarizes the activities of the South Carolina State Library. Sections include: (1) the library governance and mission statement; (2) a brief library history; (3) details about the organization and operations of the library, including a list of the responsibilities and personnel assigned to each of six departments, as well as charts of total expenditures; (4) data on library services to state government, to institutions requesting interlibrary loans, and to the visually and physically handicapped; (5) library acquisitions, divided by category; (6) library development activities, including consultant services and grant administration; (7) an update on the South Carolina Library Network; (8) highlights in public information services and programming; (9) volunteer activities; and (10) a list of recent state library publications. Appendix 1 is comprised of several library directories, listing the addresses of public library board chairpersons, public libraries, college and university libraries, and libraries in state institutions. Appendix 2 assembles tables which compare statistics from previous years with the 1994-1995 data. Data covers, among other things, library circulation, income, expenditures, and acquisitions. (BEW)
