This catalog brings together literacy related materials in all formats collected by the State Library of Louisiana. Each collection or category of materials that makes up the Adult Literacy Collection is given a separate place in the catalog. For each category of materials there are at least two lists; the primary list gives full bibliographic information, and the secondary list is arranged by subject or class number. Four categories of materials are included: (1) "Professional and Program Development Collection of Printed Materials" is comprised of works that support literacy research and program development and appear in a wide range of formats (440 titles); (2) "Video and Multi-Media Collection" includes a variety of audiocassettes, videos, and multi-media sets available to serve libraries, community organizations, tutors, and individuals (82 titles); (3) "Computer Software Collection" contains materials that range from full instructional programs to simple typing tutorials and educational games and is designed as an examination collection not for general circulation (165 titles); and (4) "Adult New Reader Collection" consists of high interest, low vocabulary reading materials (approximately 1,300 titles).
