Total VET Students and Courses 2024. Australian Vocational Education and Training Statistics

This publication provides data and insights into all nationally recognised vocational education and training (VET) delivered in 2024 by Australian registered training providers (RTOs). In 2024, 5.1 million students were enrolled in VET, up 1.8% from 2023, and comprising an estimated 26.6% of Australia's resident population aged 15 to 64 years. Students undertook training in various forms; 40.7% were enrolled in qualifications (up 0.3% to 2 085 790), 4.3% in short courses (down 4.1% to 219 430) and 69.9% in stand-alone subjects (up 2.4% to 3 584 145). Among those enrolled in stand-alone subjects, first-aid courses remained the most common, with "HLTAID009 - Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation" accounting for 25.9% or 2.3 million subject enrolments.
