Faculty Attitudes and Behaviors: The Integration of Career Readiness into the Curriculum
Mary Gatta; Ashley Finley; Patrick Green
American Association of Colleges and Universities
In fall 2023, the American Association of Colleges and Universities, the National Association of Colleges and Employers, and the Society for Experiential Education surveyed faculty about their engagement in career preparation and development. The survey examined the extent to which faculty engage students in career development in their courses by sharing resources, connecting students to experiential learning, and otherwise fostering students' professional development. Drawing on findings from the survey, "Faculty Attitudes and Behaviors: The Integration of Career Readiness into the Curriculum" highlights the many ways faculty support career preparation. The report also offers recommendations for how institutions of higher education and their faculty and staff can work together to enhance institutional effectiveness and support student outcomes by deepening faculty engagement in career development.
