This document contains an analysis of demographic information on Open University students from 1971 to 1987. Three sections analyze the characteristics of the following: (1) finally registered new students (1971-1987); (2) finally registered associate students (1975-1987); and (3) finally registered associate short course students (1984-1987). The analyses concentrate on the region, sex, age, occupation, and educational qualifications of the students. Supporting data are presented in statistical tables found in an appendix. Tables 1a-1d present data on new undergraduates by region, age and sex, occupation, and educational qualifications. Tables 2a-2d present data on associate students by region, age and sex, occupation, and educational qualifications. Tables 3a-3e present data on associate short course students by region, age, sex, occupation, and educational qualifications. Tables 4a-4d show total undergraduates by region, sex, occupation, and educational qualifications. Tables 5a-5e show bachelor of arts graduates by region, sex and age, occupation, educational qualifications, and year of entry. Tables 6a-6f depict honors graduates by region, sex and age, occupation, educational qualifications, year of entry, and classification.
