Biographical Research: Methodological Insights. Sage Research Methods Cases Part 1

Sage Research Methods Cases
This case study is in process, begun in 2008, in which I am currently collecting data for an authorized biography. It outlines what has recently been a shift in the role of researchers, especially during interviews, from one of structured questioner to a more collaborative role, that of conversational partner. Data collection methods are varied and include interviews, documents and artifacts, timeline, photographs, questionnaires/personal stories, and autobiography. This case study seeks to share the experience of collecting data for biography over a number of years and provide strategies (lessons learned) for students who plan to conduct biographical research.
