Demonstrates that an elementary understanding of computer programing and the development and illustration of the structure of computer program analysis will be valuable assets in the understanding and teaching of mathematics and may be used as modeling devices to simulate the stages of learning. Ways to combine the strengths of teacher and computer are suggested. Multiplication concepts and an algorithm for multiplication are taught in the same lessons. The computer is used as an electronic chalkboard to teach at a semiconcrete level. The computer program is included. (MNS)

Use of the hand-dialed, transparent, nonelectronic SEE-Calculator is proposed. Pupils can dial numbers into appropriate columns, watching the gears work; place-value concepts are enhanced. Both activities and flowcharting are suggested. (MNS)
