Revised North Carolina Mathematics Standard Course of Study.
North Carolina State Dept. of Public Education, Raleigh.
This document outlines the content standards for mathematics in the state of North Carolina. It is organized into four sets of grade levels: K-2; 3-5; 6-8; and high school courses. This guide establishes competency goals and objectives for the teaching and learning of mathematics in North Carolina. Outlines of the state position on such topics as technology, student learning, and professional development are also included. The standards themselves list competency objectives for students at various pre-high school grade levels under four headings: (1) Number Sense, Numeration and Numerical Operations; (2) Spatial Sense, Measurement, and Geometry; (3) Patterns, Relationships, and Functions; and (4) Data, Probability, and Statistics. High school standards are addressed on a course-by-course basis for Algebra I, Technical Mathematics, Integrated Mathematics, and others. (MM)
