MacKeen, Jessica; Wright, Tarah – International Journal of Early Childhood Environmental Education, 2020
Studies have used psychological games testing to measure children's bioaffinity (a child's love of/for or connection to nature) as a result of time spent in nature enriching children's well-being. Discrepancies found between two studies in different countries (Sweden and Canada) informed this research. Both studies used the same bioaffinity…

Peer reviewedEder, Rebecca A. – Child Development, 1990
Examined (1) the possibility that children organize general statements into meaningful and consistent psychological concepts of themselves; (2) individual differences revealed in these concepts; (3) the possibility that these differences show stability over a one-month period. (PCB)

Peer reviewedDowns, A. Chris; Langlois, Judith H. – Sex Roles, 1988
Six different measures of sex typing were administered to 101 children aged three- to five-years-old. Results demonstrate that there is a weak correlation among measures of sex typing. Correlations were higher in magnitude and more numerous for boys than for girls, which suggests the possibility of separate patterns of sex-typed development. (BJV)

Peer reviewedSexton, David; And Others – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 1988
Investigated the criterion-related validity of the Battelle Developmental Inventory (BDI) when used with 70 handicapped children less than 30-months-old. Compared scores with those on the Bayley Scales of Infant Development. Supported the validity convincingly using multivariate data analyses. Commends the BDI's value in assessing delays in…

Peer reviewedForcade, Michael C.; And Others – School Psychology Digest, 1979
A model for assessing the developmental skills of handicapped children is presented, for school psychologists. Stressing the relationship between assessment, intervention, and program evaluation, it is consistent with Public Law 94-142. Three assessment methods are recommended: parent interview, observation, and adaptive use of standardized tests.…

Peer reviewedErtel, David; Voyat, Gilbert – Teachers College Record, 1982
Jean Piaget's theories about children's cognitive development are applied to the evaluation of childhood psychosis. Problems with the testing of such children are described, and results of a research project that used the Piaget-inspired Uzgiris and Hunt Ordinal Scales of Psychological Development to assess autistic children's cognitive processes…

Peer reviewedLeguire, L. E.; Fellows, R. R. – RE:view, 1990
Sixty subjects age 6 to 30 months were assessed with the Bayley Mental Scale of Infant Development (BMSID). Mean scores were substantially higher than standardized norms would predict, indicating that Bayley norms need to be revised, and that strict interpretation of the BMSID may result in misdiagnosis of some infants with developmental…

Peer reviewedBenson, Jeri; Rentsch, Joan – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1988
Confirmatory factor analysis techniques assessed several structural models that have been reported regarding the construct validity of the Piers-Harris Children's Self-Concept Scale. Responses of 885 Black, White, and Hispanic students in grades three-six suggest that the scale's construct validity is a function of content and manner of phrasing.…
