Mirmoghtadaie, Zohrehsadat; Keshavarz, Mohsen; Kohan, Noushin; Ahmady, Soleiman – International Review of Research in Open and Distributed Learning, 2023
Identification of key factors affecting the self-directed learning process in the virtual environment of medical education is vital. In this article, we designed a model that describes the self-directed learning process in the virtual learning environment for post graduate students of medical sciences in Iran. This study was carried out in two…

Dochy, F. J. R. C.; And Others – European Journal of Agricultural Education and Extension, 1996
Research shows that learning efficiency increases by building on prior knowledge and using multiple assessment tools. Powerful learning environments start with authentic problems and build knowledge through cooperative learning. Informal assessments integrated with assessments of prior knowledge identify further educational approaches. (SK)

Eysenck, Michael W. – Journal of Research in Personality, 1979
From a review of empirical research, a new theoretical synthesis of anxiety's effect on learning and memory is proposed: anxiety always reduces processing effectiveness, by generating task-irrelevant processing activities, but this will not impair performance efficiency if sufficient compensatory effort is expended. (SJL)

Reif, Frederick – MIT Press (BK), 2008
Many students find it difficult to learn the kinds of knowledge and thinking required by college or high school courses in mathematics, science, or other complex domains. Davis, J. Kent; Frank, Bernard M. – Journal of Research in Personality, 1979
This review of the concept learning literature indicates that the greater effectiveness of field-independent learners is related to memory efficiency and the ability to conduct combinatorial analysis. Short-term memory and free recall studies suggest factors contributing to the less efficient memory of field-dependent learners. (Editor/SJL)
