Reading and Art: Art Projects Designed to Enhance Reading.
Voigt, Roben
This booklet contains a series of supplementary art projects, for kindergarten through fifth grade, designed to improve reading and art skills through positive psychomotor experiences. Because both reading ability and artistic potential depend on the development of visual perception skills, sensitivity, intuition, imagination, curiosity, and a good self-image, this booklet asserts that stimulating art experiences assist reading development. Each of the outlined projects is based on the usage or definition of words and involves the senses in experiencing word meaning. Projects range from working with clay or giving texture to words, to constructing poetry pictures and creating drawing/word stories. Illustrations, goals, and complete descriptions accompany each lesson. (MAI)
